Friday Links Roundup: Blog Break Edition

We are going to be traveling to visit family for the holidays next week. With that in mind, we are going to take a little break from the blog.

There will be at least one post next week. My goal is to do a book reviews post on Monday. We might also do a links roundup on Friday or Saturday, but I’m not sure about that yet.

Hope you understand the break, and I want to take just a moment to say “thank you” for reading! The blog is a lot of work, but it is a labor of love. Keep coming back, commenting, and spreading the word!

On to the links for this week:

1. Jeff Jenkins (love the new look of his blog, by the way) writes a great story about a young man and his great reciting of the books of the New Testament, then gives us parents some practical reminders of how to teach our kids the Bible. Enjoy “The ‘Matthew-Mark’ Song.”

2. This guest post on the Covenant Eyes blog is more for young ladies, but it needs to be read by all. Leslie Ludy writes about how modern culture is teaching young women to, basically, live the life of the seductress described in Proverbs 7. This one is very thought-provoking. Parents, make sure you read “Seductive Femininity.”

3. We are nearing the end of 2010. How did those resolutions go? Andy Brewer writes of one of his, and makes a sobering application, in his post “Bearing Down on a Goal.”

4. No, I am not obligated to link to every post my dad ever writes, but I do think that you are missing out if you aren’t reading his blog (even if he doesn’t post regularly), so I link to him often. This week, he writes some thoughts on the “changing style” of preaching, based on a comment recently made to him. Enjoy “Style And/Or Substance.”

5. I am a dreamer (and, if John Lennon is right, I’m not the only one). Often, I tell Leah my dreams, and they are huge. Even my biggest dreams, though, aren’t as big as what God usually has for us to do. Michael Hyatt’s daughter and son-in-law are adopting a baby, and she wrote a guest article about it that I found inspiring. It’s “Three Benefits of God-Sized Dreams.”

6. Twitter has become one of the biggest trends in the world over the past couple of years. It has also become a place to notice what the world is paying attention to and talking about. With that in mind, I thought you might like this Los Angeles time article, citing Twitter’s “top 10” lists for the year.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. There are lots of  holiday events going on, but don’t let any of those take away from your time with the Lord, especially on His Day.
