Seven Good Things Week : iLuminate Magazine

Welcome to “Seven Good Things Week,” where we are taking good works that we are pleased to be involved in, and sharing them with you to provide you with encouragement. Today, we are thrilled to share a great resource for teenagers–and those who are interested in teenagers–with you.

Several months ago, I was honored by being asked to serve on the board of Kaio Publications, which produces helpful, Biblical material for families. This organization, led by Joe and Erin Wells, stresses that the content be high-quality and that it be sound to the Word of God.

The “flagship” product of Kaio Publications is a magazine called iLuminate, which is more than your traditional magazine. In fact, it is not a paper magazine at all. Instead, iLuminate is an ezine, with each issue being released to be read on computers, tablets, and smartphones. Since virtually every teenager has access to at least one of these devices, this is a wonderful way to put great content before them at a very reasonable price. After all, if there is no paper to print, there are no printing costs!

Using this digital format provides another great advantage, though. iLuminate is interactive! Whereas, in a traditional magazine, you simply read the articles; in an ezine, there are all sorts of things embedded in the “pages” that readers can use. Videos, links to other helps, and audio files are just a few of the resources found within the pages to help the teenagers further their studies of the important topics being discussed.

The magazine, which comes out every other month (so, six times annually) is “delivered” to the reader’s device automatically, so getting the information could not be any simpler. Students love this magazine, and I recommend it highly.

Here is our challenge for you today. A two-year subscription to iLuminate is only $16.00. That’s 12 issues over two years at that price! I would like to see entire congregations help their teenagers by purchasing subscriptions for every teenager as a way to encourage them. Let’s just say the congregation where you worship has 25 teens. An eldership could provide great Biblical content for every teenager in that group for two years for only $400! What a wonderful way to support and encourage these precious teenagers at very little cost.

Even if you do not provide the magazine for every teenager in your congregation, consider getting a subscription. Even adults will find this ezine to be a great resource to help keep them abreast of teen culture and how to speak about it Biblically. Tomorrow, we share another book with you, and one that–I’ll just say it–you need to own.
