Friday Links Roundup: Walking (or Sitting in a Hospital) in Memphis Edition

This week’s Links Roundup is being written from Southaven, Mississippi. Leah’s sister, Heather, had her first child yesterday, and we are thankful that we were able to make it here for the birth. We are glad to meet Jude! If you are friends with me on Facebook, you can see a great picture of him there. Everyone is doing well, and God has proven to be faithful again!

On to the links for this week:

1. Many of you continue to mourn the loss of brother Jerry Jenkins. So many tributes and memories have been shared about this great man over the past few days. As most of you know, Dale (one of Jerry’s sons) and I cohost a weekly podcast called iPreach. Last week, Dale had to suddenly leave the show, and his latest blog post–a beautiful tribute to his dad–explains why. Here is that post. Also, if you did not get to attend or view Jerry’s memorial celebration, it has been uploaded in two parts on ustream’s website. Here is the link to part 1, and here is the link to part 2.

2. I love this article by Tim Archer! He asks us to evaluate our faithfulness in a post called “Christian Life or Christian Hobby?

3. I’m pretty sure this is the first time Calvin Klein has been mentioned in our roundup, but this post from Christina Gillum is worth your time. She uses an experience with a shirt to illustrate how we often treat life. Enjoy “Life is Like a Calvin Klein Shirt.”

4. This post is a little different for our roundup, but it should cause any of us who are leaders to think more deeply about what we are striving for. Enjoy Brad Montague’s post “Mediocrity.”

5. Finally, a great post from Scott McCown. Sometimes we can wonder if anyone really cares, but Scott, in a simple way, reminds us that many do. Enjoy “Why Cares?!?

We hope you have a fantastic weekend. If you are near Nashville, we hope you will come to our services at Lebanon Road on Sunday. After our evening services, we will enjoy our annual Trunk and Treat, and we hope you know that you and your children are invited!

No matter where you are, we hope you will honor the Lord on His Day!
